Content is king in the marketing world, and that’s very true. However, not all content is quality content. Let's face it—when we're online, we are all inundated with content.

From a branding perspective, bad or forced content will be noticed and can negatively impact your brand and business.

So, whether you’re a solopreneur or a larger business, it's important to mind your content! I discuss how to create a content strategy here to ensure you have a clear path to high-quality content.

The key is not just to create content for content's sake. Quantity is not as important as quality. Quality content is truly king.

Creating quality content can be a lengthy process that involves extensive research, copywriting, image sourcing, and overall planning. When done right, content builds your brand and generates leads.

So, what can you do to get the most out of the existing content you have?

Rule number one: Quality content can—and should—be used more than once.

Rule number two - first things first - you need to break it up!

Longer forms of content, like blogs, are a gold mine for social media. Divide the content, pick out the key points, and share them across all your social media channels.

  • Target 3-5 tweets, 1-2 Facebook posts, and, if it makes sense, consider a LinkedIn post too!

  • Next, design eye-catching visuals to accompany each post and use a scheduling tool to keep everything organized.

  • Remember, "old content" is still new to many—create a few different visuals for the blog itself and share it across your social media channels!

Rule number three - Go big with video or real time events.

Webinars, podcasts, and live videos are currently some of the best tools for driving interest and engagement. Take advantage of this trend!

  • Develop 2-3 different versions to use throughout the year, and decide whether to offer them for free or charge a fee if the content delivers significant value.

Rule number four - Transform and create!

Breathe new life into content but giving it a creative spin.

  • If it’s a blog, turn it into a video.

  • If it's a video, turn it into a written piece.

  • Turn the blog into a social tweet, post or consider it for a podcast topic!

Rule Five - Post on multiple locations - audinece will consume content in different places.

Always cross post!

For example - publish as a LinkedIn blog post, include your post in the link to your latest blog in Newsletters, email signatures, and of course, throughout your other social media platforms.

Creating quality content does not have to be laborious, it can actually be easy if you consider these tips. Happy creating!
